AuctionXI vs CrickHunt: auction night or the whole season?

First, the disclosure: this article is written by the team behind AuctionXI, one of the two products compared here. We are biased. What we promise instead of neutrality is accuracy — every factual claim about CrickHunt below comes from crickhunt.com, its own public website, checked in July 2026, and where its site does not state something we say nothing rather than guessing. Prices change, so confirm on each product's own pricing page before you pay.

For the wider market picture, our comparison of the best cricket auction software covers seven products. This piece looks closely at just these two, because they are actually answering different questions — and knowing which question is yours settles the choice quickly.

Both products want this moment to run smoothly. What surrounds it differs a lot.

The short version

CrickHunt is a cricket season tool: the auction and then ball-by-ball live scoring of the matches that follow, in one app. If you organise a league where the auction is night one of a six-week season, that combination is its real pitch.

AuctionXI does one job on purpose: the auction itself, staged like a broadcast. Twenty scenes for the big screen, sponsors on screen, an uncapped audience link and purse maths that cannot go wrong. Match scoring afterwards is not our product.

Breadth against depth: CrickHunt spreads across the season, AuctionXI concentrates everything on auction night.

What CrickHunt offers

CrickHunt describes itself as an all-in-one cricket management app for player auctions and live match scoring, aimed at tournament organisers, league owners, auction anchors, team owners, scorers, box cricket venues and corporate events. It is cricket-only by its own description, with Android and iOS apps plus web access.

On the auction side its site lists live player bidding with instant bid updates, custom auction settings covering team budget, base price and rules, category-wise player and bidding rules, reserve player allocation, team and squad management, an auction leaderboard, remote bidding so team owners can bid from a mobile or laptop and premium TV-style overlays for streaming, with sponsor advertisements shown on the auction screens.

Beyond the auction it lists ball-by-ball live match scoring with automatic scorecards, leaderboards and statistics, a tournament-season structure and a team owner dashboard for following points and player profiles live.

As of July 2026 the pricing on crickhunt.com/pricing is per auction: a free plan for up to 2 teams, then discounted plans listed at ₹1,500 for 4 teams, ₹2,000 for 7, ₹3,000 for 11, ₹4,500 for 17 and ₹6,000 for 30 teams, each shown against a higher struck-through regular price. All plans list unlimited players, unlimited team and season sponsors and unlimited custom banners. The site also states it is free for school, class and college tournaments, which is a genuinely nice touch.

What AuctionXI offers

AuctionXI is web-based, works for cricket and any other team sport through custom player fields, and is built around a single conviction: auction night should feel like a broadcast event.

The core is real-time bidding with the purse tracked to the paisa — a team can never go negative and a captain is never told a wrong balance. The presentation layer is where most of the product lives: twenty broadcast scenes, a projector link for the hall, a transparent overlay for YouTube streams and a viewer link that any number of people can open on their phones with nothing to install. Sponsor scenes and a sponsor strip turn your backers' money into visible screen time — our guide on getting sponsors for a local tournament covers why that matters.

Admin-side: Excel bulk import with player photos, custom fields, a fifteen-second undo, unsold re-auction rounds and complete post-event exports — the full Excel workbook plus scene images.

As of July 2026 the pricing page lists pay-once-per-tournament plans: ₹3,999 for up to 6 teams, ₹6,499 for up to 12 and ₹9,499 for up to 20, larger events on request. No free tier; there is a live demo you can open without signing up.

Where CrickHunt honestly wins

  • The season, not just the night. Ball-by-ball scoring, scorecards, leaderboards and stats after the auction. AuctionXI simply does not do this. If you want one app from auction night to the final, that is CrickHunt's case in a sentence.
  • Remote bidding. Its site lists a dedicated way for team owners to bid from a mobile or laptop when they cannot be in the room. AuctionXI is built around everyone seeing one shared auction, wherever they are, but bidding runs through the operator — if distributed owner bidding is essential to you, this is a real difference.
  • Price. At almost every size CrickHunt's listed discounted plans cost less: ₹2,000 for 7 teams against our ₹6,499 Pro, ₹6,000 for 30 teams against our ₹9,499-for-20 plus custom above. Plus a 2-team free plan and free educational tournaments.
  • Native apps. Android and iOS apps alongside web. AuctionXI is web-only.

Where AuctionXI honestly wins

  • What the room sees. Twenty broadcast scenes against "premium TV-style overlays" — both products care about presentation, but for AuctionXI the big screen is the entire product, with scenes for reveals, milestones, top players and sponsor spotlights that we would happily put next to anyone's.
  • The audience at scale. An explicitly uncapped viewer link for every phone in the hall and every family member in another city, nothing to install. CrickHunt's site describes owner dashboards and streaming overlays but does not state an audience cap either way.
  • Purse arithmetic as a guarantee. Tracked to the paisa, never negative, no captain ever shown a wrong number. CrickHunt's site lists budget settings but does not describe enforcement, so we compare only by saying this is the part of AuctionXI we consider non-negotiable.
  • Mistake recovery and the morning after. A stated fifteen-second undo, unsold re-auction rounds and full workbook plus scene image exports. Our auction day checklist shows where these save real evenings.
  • Not only cricket. CrickHunt is cricket-only by its own description. AuctionXI runs football, kabaddi, volleyball, badminton and anything else with custom fields.

So which one is right for you?

Ask what you are actually buying software for.

If the answer is the season — one app that runs the auction and then scores every match, keeps tables and gives owners a dashboard for weeks — CrickHunt's bundle and pricing make it the sensible pick, especially for cricket-only leagues on a budget.

If the answer is auction night itself — a hall full of people, a stream, sponsors who paid for visibility, an evening that should feel like television — that concentration is exactly what AuctionXI's extra rupees buy. For scoring the season afterwards you would pair it with any scoring app you already like.

Either way, close the decision the same way: confirm current prices on both sites, load ten dummy players and run a fake five-minute auction — CrickHunt's free 2-team plan and AuctionXI's live demo both allow it. An hour of clicking tells you more than any comparison article, including this one. And if the auction format itself is still an open question, our complete guide to cricket auction rules is the place to start.
